About Me

After a 27 year career as an Aerospace engineer in the RCAF, a sabbatical in Telecom at Mitel, and a 19 year stint as an Electronic Warfare Systems Engineer at General Dynamics it's time to relax and explore my military roots.

After our parents passed, my sister Dale and I travelled to the homestead to sort through their belongings. On the trip, Dale told me several family stories that I hadn't heard. I encouraged her to write them down, and that effort grew into the family history "Where do we Come From?"

Dale handed me our grandfather's military records and told me to decode them. That sparked my interest in military history and I began tracing the stories of relatives. The photo is of my Grandfather William Johnston, who lied about his age to sign up at 16.

My daughter Rachel has taken a teaching position at the NATO school in Brunssum, Netherlands so I will use her place as a base to explore our military past.
